I just found this image on TheOneRing.net, and thought I'd share it, considering I've brought you stories on all the other Dwarves from the upcoming Hobbit films directed by Peter Jackson. Here we have the leader of the Company, Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). We expected this promo shot to pop up soon, considering the releases of the other images last week. Hit the jump to check out the full version of the image, an official bio for Thorin, and a composite image of the rest of the Company prepared by a user of TheOneRing.net!

Check out the full shot:

I kind of expected Jackson & co. to go with this sort of look for Thorin, in that he seems leaner and fiercer than the rest of the Company. In fact, given the framing of the image, he looks less like a Dwarf and more like a human. Featured prominently is Thorin's sword Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver, which Thorin finds with Gandalf's sword Glamdring in a treasure hoard after the Company's encounter with the three troll brothers. Here's the official character description for Thorin:

As a young Dwarf prince, Thorin witnessed the destruction and terror wrought when a great fire-breathing Dragon attacked the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. After slaughtering many of Thorin’s kin, the great serpent, Smaug, entered The Lonely Mountain and took possession of its vast store of gold and jewels. No one came to the aid of the surviving Dwarves, and thus, a once proud and noble race was forced into exile. Through long years of hardship, Thorin grew to be a strong and fearless fighter and revered leader. In his heart a fierce desire grew; a desire to reclaim his homeland and destroy the beast that had brought such misery upon his people. So when fate offers him an unusual ally, he seizes the chance for revenge.

Here's a composite still of the other 12 Dwarves that TheOneRing.net user "lotroel" put together to help fans visualize the company together:

What do think of Thorin's official look? Did you picture him differently when you read the novel? How about the rest of the Company? Sound off in the comments!
